AFTER CLOSING
After closing time at a Miri café, a chef-owner collapses. The shared coffee is not the problem, but one cup tells a very different story.
After Closing uses a warmer, more social setting than a traditional crime scene. The café has staff routines, supplier records, customer photographs and back-of-house access points. That familiarity makes the case deceptive: ordinary closing tasks can hide meaningful movements.
The premise
Chef Rafiq collapses after a private late-night tasting. The dining room was locked from inside the café, but four people had access before closing. The cup beside him contains traces of a medication that becomes dangerous at high concentration.
What the player is trying to establish
Work out who tampered with Rafiq's drink, when it happened, and which apparently harmless lie hides the murder.
The investigation depends on understanding how a substance could reach one person without contaminating everyone else. Players also need to test who had access to the victim's medication, who remained on site after claiming to leave and which financial records create a credible reason for interference.
Investigation skills this case rewards
- Chain-of-custody thinking
- Access analysis
- Financial motive review
- Comparing witness claims with camera evidence
Spoiler-free investigation notes
- Treat the shared pot and the individual cup as separate evidence questions.
- A late transaction can matter even if the amount itself looks ordinary.
- Family conflict, bad reviews and investment pressure can all distract from a more documentable motive.
The playable case uses a fixed solution, cloud-saved progress and a ten-minute attempt window. You will need an account so the investigation state can be saved.
